FAQ

Do I need to submit a claim, or does the service centre handle it?

Just log into your Hoot portal, book a service at one of our Hoot-approved service centres, and when you arrive, let them know “I’m with Hoot”, then provide your details and Hoot Plan number. That’s it! Hoot and the service centre will take care of the rest, including the bill.

Your Wear & Tear Plan includes a Minor Electrical Capped Benefit, which covers key electrical components up to R1 000 per claim incident. The number of claims you can make depends on the duration of your plan.

Covered components include:
✔ Wiring repairs
✔ Globes
✔ Fuses
✔ Remote batteries and key re-coding
✔ Diagnostics

For a 24-month plan, you can claim up to five times, while a 36-month plan allows seven claims, each up to R1 000.

This benefit ensures your car’s minor electrical fixes are taken care of when you need them.

Your Wear & Tear Plan runs for a set period or until a specific mileage limit is reached—whichever happens first. The available options are:

✔ 24 months or 45 000 km
✔ 36 months or 60 000 km

Your Hoot Plan runs on a monthly debit order, ensuring your service costs are covered when the time comes. If a payment isn’t made on time, there’s a 15-day grace period to catch up. If no payment is received after that, your cover will not be in force, and your plan will be cancelled.

If you need to update your banking details, you can do it yourself through the Hoot self-service platform, just be sure to do so at least 10 days before your next payment.

Hoot’s Wear & Tear Plan makes servicing your car simple, affordable, and stress-free. Here’s why it’s the smart choice:

✔ Customisable cover – Choose the level of protection that suits your car.
✔ Partnered with RMI & MIWA-accredited service centres – Trusted experts, guaranteed quality.
✔ Essential parts covered – Brake pads, wipers, batteries, discs, and more.
✔ Affordable cover – Helps you plan for the inevitable replacement of wear and tear parts.
✔ Easy claims – No forms or back-and-forth. Just find your closest Hoot-approved service centre, book, and give your Hoot Plan number. We handle the rest.
✔ All online – Sign up and manage your plan yourself with no sales calls needed.
✔ Transparent – No hidden T’s & C’s, just clear cover with no surprises

Yes, there is a 3 month waiting period from the start date of your plan before you can claim for a service. You’ll need to have made at least one premium payment before your cover becomes active.

After that, you’re good to go.
